Following the usual release roadmap, Infinix took its wraps off the Infinix Hot 9 just six months after its predecessor broke into the market in 2019. As expected, the Infinix Hot 9 brings some significant improvements and features to the Infinix Hot 8 - but is it what the upgrade? How beneficial are the improvements? Let's take a look at Infinix Hot 8 vs. Infinix Hot 9 in this article!

Starting from the rear cover of both devices, the Infinix Hot 9 gives you the 2020 vibe with its quadrilateral camera bump housing the quad-rear camera setup. The differences just didn't stop there, Infinix Hot 9 also gives you a modern look with its punch-hole display, dubbed "Infinity-O" display by Infinix. In terms of colour options, both the Infinix Hot 9 and its predecessor comes with a similar colourful gradient design, with four color options that don't really differ; just that the Hot 9's color options look vibrant and well saturated. Also, you get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor placed at the same position on both devices, serving as a secondary security method.
Up from the front, both devices sports a similar 6.6" HD+ display with a 720*1600px resolution and similar aspect ratio. What differentiates them, however, is that Hot 9 comes with an Infinity-O cutout, while its predecessor - Infinix Hot 8 - comes with a water drop notch instead. You can't blame that though, the Hot 8 was released in 2019 when Water drop notches were reigning.

The Infinix Hot 9 picked up the performance where its predecessor dropped it in 2019. People needed more RAM and storage, better performance, and the new Android software, and yes, you get it on the Hot 10.
Starting with the processor, you get a slightly better MediaTek Helio A25 processor on the Hot 9, as opposed to the Helio A22 processor on the Hot 8. That's not really a wide gap, but you'll notice the improvements in some areas. Hot 9 bumped up the performance significantly is in the memory, where you get up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and that's enough to keep you going on an entry-level/mid-range device. You get more RAM to keep your apps running in the background, as well as more storage space to keep your stuff.
Infinix Hot 9 also came with XOS 6 based on Android 10 out of the box. Basically, Infinix Hot 9 got two upgrades here: an Android 10 upgrade and a push to XOS 6.0. Android 10 brought a whole lot of new features like Gesture Navigation, Dark Theme, Wi-Fi Share, New Media Controls, and more to the Android OS. And when coupled with XOS 6 on top of it, it makes the Infinix Hot 9 a decent upgrade bro the Infinix Hot 8, at least in the software and memory.Infinix Hot 8 VS Infinix Hot 9 lets campare both phones Battery Capacity.

Right from the onset, a 5,000mAh battery is just large enough to power your day, and we didn't see the need to upgrade it on the Infinix Hot 9. That is to say, both devices draw their power from a gigantic 5,000mAh. Where an improvement could've been made on the Infinix Hot 8's successor is the charging speed, but you still get a 10W charging delivery via a micro-USB cable on the Hot 9.

It got a bump in the primary camera lens and also added a dedicated macro camera, which wasn't available on the Hot 8. On paper, you get a 16MP primary camera, a 2MP macro camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and an AI lens on the Infinix Hot 9, while you get a 13MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and an AI lens on the Infinix Hot 8. Both devices feature an 8MP selfie camera with a single front flash. In terms of videography, you can shoot up to 1080p videos on both front and rear camera on both devices.
Should you upgrade to the Infinix Hot 9?
Yeah! It's what the upgrade. Infinix opts for improved performance on the Hot 9, though not a big leap but it's noticeable. And when you realize the Hot 9 has the more recent XOS 6 software based on Android 10, it makes no sense to stick with or go for the Infinix Hot 8 instead.
You get the same screen size and resolutions on both devices, but the design of the Hot 9 is more fashionable and modern - you won't feel outdated for having it.
