Infinix finally stepped up its game with the Helio G series processors, after a long partnership with the Helio A and P series processors from MediaTek. As seen on the Note 7, Hot 10 is the latest Infinix phone to rock the MediaTek Helio G70 processor, which brings substantial upgrades to its predecessors, especially in terms of performance.

And now that we have a better processor on the Hot 10, how does it compare to its predecessor, Infinix Hot 9? Is it worth the upgrades or you should just wait for the next series? Find out in our Infinix Hot 10 vs Infinix Hot 9 comparison review.

DESIGN

Though they’re about six months apart, the design of the Infinix Hot 10 hasn’t very much changed from its predecessor. You get a similar rectangular-shaped camera bump placed at the upper-left edge of the back cover. A rear-mounted fingerprint sensor accompanied the camera bump and some Infinix branding. Meanwhile, you can very much differentiate them at first glance now, as the new Infinix Hot 10 feature a more textured back finish that looks like a pipeline, and the arrangement of the camera inside the rectangular-shaped module looks like the letter “F”.

The more significant change that differentiates the Hot 10 from Hot 9 is its size – both display and thickness. Thanks to the new 6.78” HD+ display and 5,200mAh battery inside the Hot 10. On the Hot 9, you get a smaller 6.6” HD+ screen with a 5,000mAh battery, which makes it slimmer.

FEATURES

Let’s welcome Infinix Hot 10 with its new prowess in performance. Like, it’s been a while with the MediaTek Helio P and A series chipset on Infinix phones. But finally, we have a gaming chipset on board. Right under the hood, Infinix Hot 10 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G70 processor as opposed to the Helio A25 processor powering the Infinix Hot 9.

Based on Lab tests and real-world usage, Helio G70 smacks down the Helio A25 processor in all ways. It has about 123% more single-core performance, 64% more multi-core performance, and 114% more GPU performance. Unlike the Infinix Hot 9, you can now play some high graphics games on the Hot 10 without running into issues. More so, the improved Game Mode on XOS 7 takes gaming to a better level on the Infinix Hot 10.

In terms of storage and RAM, the Infinix Hot 10 comes with 64GB of storage and 3GB of RAM, which is more than a nice upgrade from the Infinix Hot 9 featuring 32GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. One more thing to note about the memory on both devices is that Hot 10 is expandable up to 512GB, while its predecessor, Hot 9, is just up to 256GB.

Both devices support dual 4G LTE networks, and you also enjoy Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, OTG connections seamlessly. And, with the Helio G70 processor on the Infinix Hot 10, you enjoy faster network connections.

If you’re switching to Infinix Hot 10 from any XOS 6 device, the first thing you notice is the overhauled UI design, and that makes it the perfect time to talk about the software on these devices. Infinix Hot 10 runs the XOS 7, the latest iteration of Infinix’s custom Android skin based on Android 10. XOS 7 is designed to make life simpler for you. Now that phone screens are getting bigger, XO7 makes using your phone in one-handed mode easier by adding some whitespace to the top of the screen and shifting the essential tools to the bottom of the screen for easy access. The overhauled UI design is just a tip of the iceberg on the new features you get after upgrading to XOS 7 – from Infinix Hot 9 to Hot 10.

CAMERA

Infinix Hot 10 uses the same camera lenses as the Hot 9. Both devices come with a 16MP primary camera, a 2MP macro camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and an AI lens. Meanwhile, you get better shots on the Infinix Hot 10; thanks to the superior processor and software.

In addition to the existing camera modes on its predecessor, Infinix Hot 10 come with Super Night mode and Document mode.

BATTERY LIFE

Infinix Hot 10 also saw a noticeable upgrade in the power segment. Battery capacity got a slight bump from 5,000mAh on the Infinix Hot 9 to 5,200mAh on the Infinix Hot 10. While you still don’t get any form of fast charging here, the 200mAh battery increase is recognized, and would give you additional hours on the screen.
